Oh Paris - it's always a good idea isn't it? I decided to spend my 22nd birthday in the City of Love (or Lights?) and it was definitely one of the best holiday decisions ever. The weather was just perfect for a European May weekend - sunny with a breeze and not too hot thankfully.
We stayed at the Nolinski Paris, which is one of the coolest and chicest hotels I've ever been in. Not to mention the rooms are pretty big for the French Capital. It's located right above the Pyramides metro station, just a few minutes away from Palais Royal station, and naturally the Louvre.
One of the best meals we had was at Monsieur Bleu, a French/Asian fusion restaurant located at the Palais de Tokyo with outdoor views of the Eiffel Tower. It was one of the best French dining experience I've had, and the price was quite reasonable too. Sadly the trees along the Seine blocked our view of the Eiffel Tower so that was a big miss (since it was the main selling point of the restaurant I think).
On my birthday, we had lunch at L'Oiseau Blanc, an exceptional French restaurant at the top of the Peninsula Paris. We had a breathtaking view of the Eiffel Tower with clear, blue skies. This was hands down the best moment of our entire trip. The food was great, though not as fascinating to my taste buds as our previous meal at Monsieur Bleu, but that wasn't the main attraction of the restaurant anyway. After lunch, we lounged outside on the terrace with unobstructed views of the whole city from Montmarte to Arc de Triomphe to Tour Eiffel. A perfect end to a perfect trip.
Hopefully next time I'm back the weather will be as beautiful, if not better!
