GLIMPSES OF JUPITER: MILDRED
MILDRED @ MILDREDLIKE
Goodbyes have never been easy, but I've always thought of myself as being quite skilled at the task (having had lots of practice in my teenage years). Nevertheless, it struck me tonight that some things in life just don't get easier the more you do it. Yes, practice doesn't always make perfect. Saying farewell to a close friend, or switching it for "see you later" to make the pain more bearable, is in fact an act that will ache my heart every single time. But as all things go, there's always a brighter side to situations, and I'm so excited and proud of my younger friends (makes me sound like a grandpa) for going off to uni and living their lives away from home.
I've only known Mildred for a mere 3 years, but it has certainly been a period filled with silly laughter, midnight boy problems and a cultivation of my ride-or-die spirit. To me, our friendship is like a space mission to Jupiter. And there are only the both of us in the shuttle. One dependent on another for life and for love. And as different as we may be, we strive towards the same goals and sleep on the same dreams. We work hard to get what we want and we are ruthless like a tiger but care-free like a sloth. Just like riding on waves, we go through turbulent lows and heart-warming peaks.
It is different, and it is unique.
This is our space mission to Jupiter.
