CHERRY DIP: CHRISTINE
A late afternoon in Union Square and three Asian kids are laughing their heads off and prancing across the street while holding a half-melted cherry-dipped soft serve ice cream in hand. The melting cone, clenched in Christine's hand, didn't seem to be able to hold up to the New York heat as well as we did. While the shoot wasn't a completely disastrous affair (and Christine's top from UO survived without even a single spot), it was certainly messy. By the time we wrapped up the shoot, which was less than 15 minutes, most of the cone had melted away and there was only a mini remnant of the coral-colored cherry dip.
As this was my last shoot in NYC (and according to Christine she just did a shoot the day before with a very similar wardrobe), I decided to spice things up a bit and throw in the soft serve. I won't admit this in person, but I hate it when there are similar shoot ideas going on - the inevitability of comparison between me and the other photographer just freaks me out - so I went ahead (seeing that there was a Mister Softee truck) and spent $3.50 on what could have been a very nice summer treat. Instead we just watched it melt away... and took photos of it.
Needless to say the shoot was incredibly fun and packed with Christine's positive energy. As a photographer, it's always nice to shoot with someone I've worked with before, and Christine was no exception. Currently I'm typing away with She Looks So Perfect playing in the background at 2am (as is usual for me), I guess, for now, these images will have to satisfy my craving for a big tub of chocolate Häagen-Dazs. Maybe for breakfast?
